Being Basic

Today I did a little shopping for some summertime basics. The things I bought are all relatively cheap and all of the items were on sale.

This tank top from Target is super comfortable and is made from a very breathable fabric. Black and white stripes to me are essential all year long, but this tank is great for the summer. Online, I couldn’t find this specific top, but there are other colors in a similar style. The tag on this top said it was $10, but when I paid for it, the price was actually $9. I got it in a size medium.

This grey t-shirt from Marshalls is also super comfortable and soft. It is from the brand Zenana Outfitters and I got it in a size medium so it would be loose. This shirt was $6.99, which is a good price for a basic staple.

I found this next tank top in the misses section and fell in love with it. The geometric design made me think of the greek key pattern and it’s navy and white, so I just had to try it on. I also really love the tassels that are attached at the collar. I got it in a size small, I paid $19.99 for it, and the brand is Max Studio.

I got this NYX concealer in Porcelain, which is the lightest shade they have. I wanted to try out the trend of brightening your face with concealer that I’ve seen all over YouTube. I’ve heard the formula of this concealer stays on all day and I’m excited to try it out. The price was $4.99 at Ulta but I paid $4.16 for it somehow (???), I think there was some kind of deal going on, but I’m not sure.

Lastly, I got the NYX setting powder in translucent. I got this because I want to learn how to “bake” my face properly. Lately, I have begun to notice how many creases form under my eyes after I put concealer on and just setting my whole face with 1 layer of powder. The bags under my eyes may or may not be due to my lack of sleep during finals week but nonetheless, I don’t want to look like a zombie anymore. This powder is the exact same price and amount as the Ulta brand setting powder, but today it must have been discounted because it was $8.32 rather than the original $9.99.

I hope you enjoyed this random little haul. I got these things because I’m pretty sure most girls in America have very similar items and it would make it easier to translate my personal style to things everyone already owns in their closet. Conformity does make the world go ’round 🙂

Thanks for reading! Let me know if you like the try-on picture I included.

Dorm Makeup Storage

drawer labeled

So today I thought I would share with y’all how I store my makeup while living in my dorm. I keep everything in this 5 section storage drawer, which I find to be easy and convenient for when I get ready for class in the mornings. I have all of the drawers separated by each type of makeup product and I go through my makeup routine in descending order of the drawers. Whenever I bought these drawers, I didn’t remember to measure the length of my Naked palettes, so that’s why I have them stacked on top of the drawers, in front of my perfume basket.

face labeled

In the first drawer, I have all of my foundation, concealers, primer, and applicators such as a beauty blender sponge and a small kabuki brush. (P.S. I have a lot of Mary Kay products because my Mom used to sell it.)

I start applying my makeup by first using primer, foundation, and concealer to even out my face.

powders labeled

In the second drawer, I have face powders, blush, and bronzers/highlights along with various brushes to apply them. My favorite product out of this drawer is the e.l.f. Golden Bronzer quad.

After I use the products out of my face drawer, I use the powders in this drawer to set everything and contour/highlight.

lips labeled

In the third drawer, I keep all of my lipsticks, glosses, balms, and also my eyebrow pencil, brush, and tweezers. My favorite lip balm is the Honeysuckle Honeydew eos  and my favorite lip color, especially for fall and winter, is the NYX soft matte lip cream in Copenhagen.

After I set my face and contour, I just use the eos on my lips for class and I darken my eyebrows.

eyes labeled

In the fourth drawer, I have eyeliners, mascaras, eyeshadow primer, and a setting spray. I am currently loving the Falsies push up drama mascara to add length to my lashes.

After I do my eyebrows, I put on eye primer and eyeshadow using the original Naked palette and/or the Naked 2 palette. I then use eyeliner and mascara to finish of the day’s look. To set everything I just put on, I use setting spray to keep my makeup in place.

nails labeled

In my fifth and final drawer, I keep all of my nail polishes and nail care tools. My favorite nail polish right now is the coolest shade, Essie’s For the Twill of It, in the top left corner.

I hope you’ve enjoyed reading about how I store my makeup and the little insight I gave to my daily makeup routine. Since this is my first makeup related post, let me know if you liked it!

( P.S. Starting this week, I plan on posting bi-weekly on Mondays and Fridays around 7pm central time. I have the most free time on these two days during my school schedule, so this way I will be able to post more content. )
